Gestalt Therapy
Gestalt Therapy is an approach whose focus is on the experience of the “here and now” with an emphasis on the present moment as experienced by the individuals who are interacting. Gestalt therapy focuses on the relationship between therapist and client(s) and sees this a dynamic process. Gestalt therapists encourage clients to be “in the moment,” experiencing, rather than simply describing a concern or an event. Gestalt therapy includes a heightened self-awareness, exploration of therapeutic dynamics, dream interpretation, exploration of habitual ways of interacting in the world, and development of a unity in body, mind, spirit and their interactions with the environment.
Sex Therapy
Sex Therapy, as I practice it, begins with an understanding of the presenting problem. Clients may be given “homework” assignments with a goal of illuminating the dynamics that cut them off from the satisfying and fulfilling sexual relationships that they crave. As we better understand the blocks to sexual fulfillment, we will gently move towards creating patterns that are healthier and that lead to more comfort, more satisfaction and deeper intimacy.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy creates a safe and caring therapeutic relationship to explore how clients’ patterns of thoughts, feelings and behaviors can become habitual, leaving clients feeling stuck in old dynamics. We work together to explore these patterns.
Mindfulness/Meditation
As a student of yoga and meditation for over 10 years, I have incorporated some of the concepts that I learned into my therapeutic practice. As the need arises, I teach clients meditation and breathing techniques. These techniques provide a body-oriented support to the psychic work that improves the clients’ sense of well-being. In addition to my work with yoga, I have past training and practice experience in 5 Element Shiatsu (derived from Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture) and in Reiki.
